چکیده

The vibration characteristics of a rub-impact rotor system with different parameters are investigated using Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT)-a relative novel time-frequency analysis method. Firstly, the rotor with rub-impact at fixed limiter is modeled by finite element method (FEM). Then, system simulation signals at different rotating speeds, rub-impact clearances and rub-impact rod stiffness are obtained based on the FE model, moreover which are analyzed by using HHT along with Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and shaft center orbit methods. The results show that the effects of variables on system motion patterns, response properties and rub-impact severity differ in degrees. Some conclusions are achieved which may be useful to detect rub-impact fault accurately and effectively.

Fault Detection Method on a Compressor Rotor Using the Phase Variation of the Vibration Signal

The aim of this work is the application of the phase variation in vibration signal for fault detection on rotating machines. The vibration signal from the machine is modulated in amplitude and phase around a carrier frequency. The modulating signal in phase is determined after the Hilbert transform and is used, with the Fast Fourier Transform, to extract the harmonics spectrum in phase. This me...

EMD Based on Independent Component Analysis and Its Application in Machinery Fault Diagnosis

Local rub-impact is the common fault in rotating machinery and results in impact and friction between rotor and stator. The vibration signal due to impact and friction is always non-stationary which includes three components, namely, the rub-impact signal, the background signal and the noise signal. EMD (Empirical mode decomposition) is based upon the local characteristic time scale of signal a...

Nonlinear and Non-stationary Vibration Analysis for Mechanical Fault Detection by Using EMD-FFT Method

The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is a powerful method for nonlinear and non-stationary vibrations analysis. This approach consists of two basic parts of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert spectral analysis (HSA). To achieve the reliable results, Bedrosian and Nuttall theorems should be satisfied. Otherwise, the phase and amplitude functions are mixed together and consequently, the ...

Research on vibration response of a multi-faulted rotor system using LMD-based time-frequency representation

Unbalance, fatigue crack and rotor-stator rub are the three common and important faults in a rotor-bearing system. They are originally interconnected each other, and their vibration behaviors do often show strong nonlinear and transient characteristic, especially when more than one of them coexist in the system. This article is aimed to study the vibration response of the rotor system in presen...
